Wind fluctuations observed for the [ WC 9 ] nucleus of the planetary nebula BD + 30 o 3639 ⋆

چکیده
The CIII and CIV lines in the [WC9] spectrum of BD+303639 show variable features, interpreted in terms of radiative acceleration of “blobs” forming in the wind. The variations are like those observed for theWC9massive stars, and the blobs acceleration appears smaller than for the [WC8] nucleus of NGC 40.

0 Chandra X - ray Observatory Detection of Extended X - ray Emission from the Planetary Nebula BD + 30 ◦ 3639
We report the detection of well resolved, extended X-ray emission from the young planetary nebula BD +30 3639 using the Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer (ACIS) aboard the Chandra X-ray Observatory. The X-ray emission from BD +30 3639 appears to lie within, but is concentrated to one side of, the interior of the shell of ionized gas seen in high-resolution optical and IR images. The relatively ...
متن کاملAn Ultraviolet to Mid-Infrared Study of the Physical and Wind Properties of HD 164270 (WC9) and Comparison to BD+30 3639 ([WC9])
We present new Spitzer IRS observations of HD 164270 (WC9, WR103). A quantitative analysis of the UV, optical, nearand mid-IR spectrum of HD 164270 is presented, allowing for line blanketing and wind clumping, revealing T∗ ∼48kK, logL/L⊙ ∼ 4.9, Ṁ ∼ 10M⊙ yr for a volume filling factor of f ∼0.1. Our models predict that He is partially recombined in the outer stellar wind, such that recent radio-...
متن کاملThe kinematics of the planetary nebula BD + 30 3639
In this paper we describe the results of the first optical kinematic study of the planetary nebula BD+30◦3639. This system has a central star of the Wolf-Rayet type and is believed to be fairly young. Emission line spectra were obtained at high spectral and spatial resolution using the Utrecht echelle spectrometer at the William Herschel Telescope. These spectra indicate that the main ionized s...
متن کاملNarrow radiative recombination continua: A Signature of ions crossing the contact discontinuity of astrophysical shocks
X-rays from planetary nebulae (PNs) are believed to originate from a shock driven into the fast stellarwind (v ∼ 1000 km s−1) as it collides with an earlier circumstellar slow wind (v ∼ 10 km s−1). In theory, the shocked fast wind (hot bubble) and the ambient cold nebula can remain separated by magnetic fields along a surface referred to as the contact discontinuity (CD) that inhibits diffusion...
متن کاملMolecular bullets in the planetary nebula BD + 30 ◦ 3639
We report high resolution (1. 0×0. 5) CO line imaging of the compact planetary nebula BD+30 • 3639 that reveals a remarkable pair of high-velocity, molecular knots, or " bullets ". These bullets are ∼ 1 in size, and are symmetrical about the central star in position (±3 at P.A. ∼ 22 •) and in velocity (±50 km s −1). The mass of each bullet is > ∼ 7 × 10 −4 M and their kinematic age is ∼ 500 yr....
